Responsibilities
- Design, discuss, develop, troubleshoot, and operate distributed systems based on replicated state machines.
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable Java code for Aeron Sequencer and related technology.
- Design and evolve messaging protocols and software libraries.
- Apply testing, benchmarking, measurement, and profiling to improve system correctness and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, pairing, technical discussions, and product decisions.
- Communicate technical priorities and decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience designing, building, debugging, and operating distributed systems.
- Strong experience developing server-side software in Java.
- Experience designing and evolving messaging protocols or software libraries.
- Experience using testing approaches to support software correctness and performance.
- Experience measuring, benchmarking, and profiling software components or systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaborative knowledge-sharing, prioritization judgment, and willingness to challenge the status quo.
- Useful additional experience includes messaging technologies, replicated state machines, low-latency systems, property-based or deterministic simulation testing, FIX or ITCH, OMS or EMS systems, C or C++, Gradle, GitHub Actions, AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and customer-facing technical discussions.
