Responsibilities
- Define and implement AgentCore Runtime patterns covering sessions, state, error handling, timeouts, packaging, and execution.
- Design short-term and long-term agent memory strategies using AgentCore Memory.
- Build orchestration, planning, tool-use, supervisor/worker, and multi-agent handoff patterns.
- Expose internal APIs, Lambda functions, and legacy services as governed agent tools through AgentCore Gateway.
- Design and build Model Context Protocol servers with clear tool definitions and schemas.
- Implement authentication and authorization using AgentCore Identity, OAuth, and IAM.
- Integrate safely with enterprise and legacy systems, including rate limits, data mapping, and error handling.
- Create production-quality reference agents, starter kits, tool standards, versioning processes, and review practices.
- Add evaluation, Bedrock Guardrails, contract tests, and safety checks before production release.
- Provide walkthroughs, documentation, and onboarding support to other engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong Python experience; TypeScript experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience building LLM agents with at least one agent framework such as Strands Agents, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, or LlamaIndex.
- Practical experience with LLM tool or function calling and model-output handling.
- Strong AWS fundamentals, including IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, containers, DynamoDB, S3, VPC connectivity, and Secrets Manager.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and OpenAPI specifications, with authentication patterns such as OAuth 2.0 and OIDC.
- Understanding of agent memory, retrieval-augmented generation, and context-management trade-offs.
- Deep hands-on strength in one focus area and working knowledge of the other.
- Ability to write clean, well-tested code that other engineers can read and reuse.
- Clear communication skills and comfort teaching patterns to other teams.
- Preferred experience with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime, Memory, Gateway, and Identity.
- Preferred experience building or operating MCP servers in production environments.
- Preferred experience with production multi-agent systems, observability, failure handling, enterprise or legacy integrations, API management platforms such as MuleSoft, Apigee, or Kong, and LLM evaluation tools.
- Consulting experience is required; prior Life Sciences experience and industry connections are preferred.
