Responsibilities

  • Develop clean, modular, documented code for responsive web applications and interactive features.
  • Implement Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, including screen-reader and accessibility testing.
  • Integrate front-end interfaces with Drupal CMS platforms and APIs for media, collection data, and search experiences.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and museum stakeholders in Agile teams.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, peer code reviews, and unit testing.
  • Troubleshoot cross-browser and cross-platform rendering issues and optimize applications for speed and scalability.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack web development.
  • Deep proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, Sass, and vanilla JavaScript.
  • Strong professional experience with at least one of React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Experience building and theming components for enterprise CMS environments; Drupal experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience building accessible websites compliant with Section 508 and WCAG standards and using screen readers or testing tools.
  • Strong understanding of Git workflows, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
  • Ability to communicate technical constraints and opportunities to non-technical museum stakeholders.
  • Preferred: federal contractor or cultural institution experience, AWS or Azure familiarity, CI/CD experience, and experience with high-resolution media or interactive maps and timelines.
