Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the long-term technical vision for Google’s hardware security and lead fleet-wide transitions to next-generation open-source Roots of Trust and post-quantum cryptography readiness.
- Co-design secure system architectures with hardware engineers and lead the implementation and deployment of software, firmware, and utilities for custom security chips, BIOS, and OS kernels.
- Connect bare-metal and real-time operating systems with cryptographic services, certificate authority operations, remote attestation pipelines, and credential binding.
- Represent Google and steer roadmaps for open standards and initiatives including OpenTitan, Caliptra, and TPM.
- Lead distributed teams delivering complex projects from concept through deployment while advancing automated hardware-in-the-loop testing and mentoring engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- At least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- At least 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
- At least 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience with embedded systems, security standards, real-time operating systems, and C++.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 3 years in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: 3 years working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Preferred experience with cryptographic algorithms, hardware design, and Rust.
