Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate reconciliation systems and the Stack State Service backend to detect and repair configuration drift.
- Collaborate across SSS, grafana.com, Hosted Grafana, deployment configurations, and cloud infrastructure to maintain reliable stack lifecycle workflows.
- Manage rollouts for plugins, dashboards, data sources, Grafana versions, release channels, and stack-level configuration.
- Support safe new-region and cluster rollouts and improve recovery paths for reconciliation, deployment, and integration failures.
- Improve operational efficiency, runbooks, dashboards, alerts, rollout controls, and incident response procedures.
- Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Support, Hosted Grafana, and adjacent AppCore squads on customer-impacting work.
- Write maintainable, well-tested backend and application code, implement services, and contribute to roadmap planning and technical design.
- Participate in follow-the-sun OnCall when ready and help own the production behavior of built systems.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of fully remote work experience.
- Some experience working on a SaaS platform and familiarity with distributed-systems concepts such as scalability, multi-tenancy, and high availability.
- Professional experience with Golang and willingness to work across backend service and application code.
- Experience contributing to project delivery from brainstorming through customer shipment.
- Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable software and execute well-defined work iteratively.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes in AWS, GCP, or Azure and exposure to infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Helm, Terraform, or Jsonnet.
- Experience participating in blameless incident response and post-incident reviews.
- Bonus experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Kubernetes control-plane patterns, operators, reconcilers, desired-state systems, Jsonnet, Tanka, Terraform, Flux, Argo, SaaS provisioning, tenancy, regional expansion, plugin rollout, or customer lifecycle systems.
