Responsibilities
- Build high-throughput, asynchronous, parallel document-processing pipelines with batching, retries, backpressure, and idempotent reprocessing.
- Integrate LLM APIs with timeout handling, token and cost controls, response validation, and automatic failover across providers.
- Engineer circuit breakers, fallback chains, and graceful degradation for production resilience.
- Debug extraction failures, latency spikes, and cost regressions using dashboards and metrics, and resolve root causes.
- Review pull requests, write durable design documents, break features into tasks, and unblock junior engineers.
- Make architecture decisions and own backend services in production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of hands-on Java development, including at least 2 years owning a production service.
- Strong Core Java skills with depth in multithreading and concurrent architecture design.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data, microservices, and REST architecture.
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB, and familiarity with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and data-structures skills, with the ability to reason about cost, latency, and accuracy tradeoffs.
- Experience informally mentoring or guiding junior engineers and working independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written communication for asynchronous, cross-time-zone collaboration.
- Preferred: LLM or generative AI application development, Python, Kafka or RabbitMQ, Document AI, OCR, mortgage or fintech, and observability tools such as Grafana, Metabase, or ELK.
