Responsibilities

  • Design and develop backend services, platforms, and RESTful APIs for trading and middle-office workflows.
  • Build scalable, resilient, cloud-native applications and high-throughput, low-latency streaming solutions.
  • Apply event-driven architectures, reactive programming, Domain-Driven Design, concurrency, multithreading, and JVM performance principles.
  • Lead Data and AI applications from discovery and prototyping through evaluation, deployment, and production operation.
  • Develop multi-agent workflows, MCP-based services, AI evaluation pipelines, and observability frameworks.
  • Address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, resilience, operational performance, and production support needs.
  • Contribute to architecture, engineering standards, product roadmaps, and long-term technology strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to other engineers.
  • Collaborate with traders, risk professionals, operators, finance teams, product managers, UX designers, data engineers, and architects.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity.
  • Validated experience designing and developing distributed, cloud-native applications.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more of Java, C#, Python, Scala, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with GKE, OpenShift, EKS, AKS, or Cloud Foundry.
  • Strong experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ and event-driven messaging architectures.
  • Experience designing and working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Confirmed experience building high-throughput, low-latency streaming ingestion and processing solutions.
  • Experience with reactive programming, Domain-Driven Design, distributed systems, concurrency, multithreading, network models, and JVM performance.
  • Experience with TDD, BDD, CI/CD, code review, automated testing, and production system operations.
  • Experience working in regulated or highly controlled enterprise environments involving security, privacy, data residency, compliance, and operational risk.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering and developer tooling.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical customers.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Desirable experience includes energy or commodity trading, ETRM systems, trading and risk platforms, Actor Model, Event Sourcing, CQRS, AI/ML-enabled applications, agentic systems, AI observability, and mentoring or leading an engineering squad.
