Responsibilities
- Define and maintain reference architectures for agent identity, delegation, audit, authorization, and kill-switch patterns.
- Own the most strategic, regulated, technically novel, and playbook-free customer deployments.
- Review FDE architectures, coach senior customer engineers, mentor the team, and raise field engineering standards.
- Synthesize patterns across accounts and partner with product and engineering leadership to shape the roadmap.
- Brief CISO, CIO, and Chief AI Officer audiences and represent Okta in external technical standards and frameworks.
- Resolve complex technical and political customer situations.
- Define evaluation and observability standards for authorization latency, scope sprawl, delegation anomalies, audit completeness, and kill-switch verification.
- Create reusable modules, internal tooling, and enablement from recurring field work.
Requirements
- 10+ years shipping production software with deep distributed systems and identity experience while remaining hands-on.
- Expertise with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, RFC 8693 token exchange, act claims, CIMD, DCR, and DPoP.
- Fluency in OWASP Top 10 for Agentic Applications, NIST AI RMF, MITRE ATLAS, MCP, A2A, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act, including application in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and SOC 2 environments.
- Expertise in fine-grained ReBAC and ABAC authorization with policy engines such as OPA, Cedar, or OpenFGA.
- Production integrations across major agent platforms and MCP, with daily AI-native development experience.
- Demonstrated technical direction across multiple teams or accounts and experience mentoring senior engineers.
- Strong customer-facing authority with credibility among CISOs and principal engineers.
- Ability to build a function with high agency and a founder’s mindset.
- Ability to travel occasionally, including internationally, up to 35%.
- Contribution to standards or open source is preferred.
