Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own substantial engineering efforts across Azure control-plane services from investigation and technical design through implementation, deployment, and production operation.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues across distributed services, deployment systems, infrastructure, and environmental dependencies using source code, telemetry, logs, and service architecture.
- Improve service portability, reliability, maintainability, delivery safety, observability, performance, and operational efficiency across commercial and specialized clouds.
- Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual and participate in on-call rotations, responding to degradation and outages and driving post-incident improvements.
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design discussions, debugging guidance, hands-on collaboration, and mentoring.
- Evaluate and apply technologies, tools, and engineering practices while meeting security, compliance, reliability, and operational requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with willingness and eligibility to upgrade to TS/SCI with polygraph, and ability to maintain the required clearance.
- Successful clearance verification, Microsoft Cloud background check, and U.S. citizenship verification are required.
- Preferred qualifications include 6+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, debugging, or operating production services.
- Experience diagnosing distributed-system failures, working in unfamiliar codebases, understanding distributed-systems concepts, and delivering ambiguous projects end to end.
- Experience developing and debugging with C#, Java, or another object-oriented programming language.
- Ability to influence technical decisions across teams and improve other engineers’ code quality, debugging, system design, and engineering judgment.
