Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and hands-on implementation of software and infrastructure improvements across Azure AI services in air-gapped and sovereign environments.
  • Own engineering initiatives from problem definition and technical design through testing, rollout, and operational follow-through.
  • Work across codebases and architectures to integrate capabilities and resolve service dependency, networking, identity, and infrastructure challenges.
  • Build reusable automation, deployment tooling, release validation, and observability to improve reliability and engineering efficiency.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, investigate production issues, coordinate service restoration, and deliver preventative fixes.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance through design discussions, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Evaluate and apply approved AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, while maintaining security and engineering quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information based on an SSBI with polygraph.
  • Ability to satisfy Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
  • U.S. citizenship and citizenship verification are required due to applicable citizenship-based legal restrictions.
  • Experience designing, developing, and operating production cloud services or distributed systems using C#, Python, or another general-purpose programming language is preferred.
  • Ability to become productive in unfamiliar codebases and apply software engineering fundamentals across services, architectures, and technology stacks is preferred.
  • Experience with architectural tradeoffs involving reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and system dependencies is preferred.
  • Experience deploying or troubleshooting containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes on Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or comparable platforms is preferred.
  • Experience building deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, or observability tooling is preferred.
  • Experience diagnosing issues across application, platform, and infrastructure boundaries and leading cross-team technical delivery is preferred.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is $119,800-$234,700 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of $160,200-$261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position will be open for at least 5 days and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
