Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and operate build orchestration and scheduling services for Windows builds across hundreds of branches and pull requests.
- Own continuous integration and pull request validation for the Windows codebase.
- Deliver build outputs, symbols, and drops while optimizing indexing, caching, and artifact management.
- Manage build compute, machine lifecycles, autoscaling, and capacity planning.
- Build and modernize web experiences for build status, reporting, controls, queue visibility, and outage communication.
- Apply AI technologies to improve developer productivity, automate operations, diagnose incidents, and optimize scheduling and capacity.
- Participate in on-call, lead incident response and root-cause analysis, and improve telemetry and alerting.
- Mentor engineers and raise the team's technical bar.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master's degree and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, bachelor's degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience operating production services with on-call or DRI responsibility, incident response, postmortems, and reliability work.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and automation, and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with C# and Microsoft technologies.
- Experience with build systems and developer productivity infrastructure such as MSBuild, BuildXL, or Bazel, distributed build execution, or distributed caching.
- Experience with large-scale telemetry and query systems such as Kusto/KQL, Azure Data Explorer, or Application Insights.
- Track record of improving engineering system throughput, reliability, or developer productivity for a large engineering organization.
- Experience delivering large-scale system-level software and designing or operating distributed systems or cloud service backends.
- Excellent communication skills and customer-oriented problem-solving abilities.
Benefits
- Base pay range is USD $119,800-$234,700 per year across the U.S.; a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range is USD $160,200-$261,000 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
