Base Salary

$147k - $339k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction for cross-team initiatives and major incidents.
  • Mentor SREs and developers while defining and advocating for engineering best practices and design patterns.
  • Partner with Security, Networking, and Platform teams on architecture roadmaps.
  • Influence vendor and hardware strategy for on-premises and cloud workloads.
  • Design self-healing platforms using automation, chaos engineering, and fault-tolerant patterns.
  • Optimize Linux systems at scale, including performance tuning, kernel parameters, networking, storage, and security hardening.
  • Install, configure, monitor, patch, and maintain physical and cloud systems across global data centers.
  • Develop automation to reduce repetitive tasks and analyze and address performance bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshoot user access permissions, network connectivity, and system firewalls.
  • Participate in on-call shifts, incident management, application releases, and deployments, including occasional after-hours and weekend work.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in SRE, production engineering, or large-scale systems administration.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, including systemd, cgroups, networking, filesystems, and performance analysis.
  • Coding ability in at least one programming language, such as Python.
  • Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Jenkins, GitLab, Kubernetes, Docker, and observability platforms.
  • Experience with incident response in mission-critical environments.
  • Experience with security practices including TPM, secure boot, identity, and secrets management.
  • Expertise in networking concepts including BGP, load balancing, DNS, TLS, and traffic engineering.
  • Experience with chaos engineering, resilience testing, and distributed storage systems such as Ceph.
  • Strong communication skills and experience driving cross-team projects as a technical lead.
  • Ability to work across the globe or multiple time zones.
