Responsibilities
- Create and publish reference architectures for Data, AI, Platform, and Agents through the SAP Architecture Center.
- Evolve SAP’s AI-native North Star Architecture in response to technology, market, and customer changes.
- Explore emerging AI technologies and open standards, including neuro-symbolic AI, knowledge graphs, Model Context Protocol, agent orchestration, Agent2Agent, RAG, and other AI-native patterns.
- Build proof points and provide architecture recommendations for company-wide build, buy, and partner decisions.
- Contribute to SAP’s work with the Agentic AI Foundation and open standards for agentic AI.
- Collaborate with product development, product management, and teams across SAP through InnerSource initiatives.
- Address non-functional architecture concerns including security, high availability/disaster recovery, performance, and reliability.
- Produce architecture standards, decision records, concept notes, technical investigations, and strategy documents.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in software architecture design and development.
- Recognized expertise and thought leadership in one or more of AI, data and analytics, or cloud-native frameworks.
- Strong hands-on experience using AI coding tools and coding agents to build, test, and review software rapidly.
- Expertise with programming languages and environments such as Java, JavaScript, and Python.
- Experience with machine learning, model evaluation, observability, and MLOps.
- Experience with modern enterprise data architectures, including SAP HANA, SAP Business Data Cloud, lakehouse patterns, Databricks, or Snowflake, is preferred.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with multiple teams and drive initiatives across organizational areas.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, presentation, articulation, and storytelling abilities.
