Responsibilities

  • Support vendor management, partner governance, and system oversight for secure solutions throughout their lifecycle.
  • Research issues, recommend solutions, monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and coordinate fixes with technology partners.
  • Help maintain system and infrastructure availability by addressing low-to-medium complexity escalations.
  • Support platform strategies and roadmaps that strengthen Southwest’s security posture.
  • Stay current on cybersecurity, system operations, emerging technologies, and relevant best practices.
  • Contribute to team projects by meeting deadlines, fulfilling commitments, and delivering quality results.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at application and during the internship, progressing toward a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
  • At least 18 years old with U.S. work authorization and a valid U.S. Social Security Number.
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
  • Coursework or experience with AWS Cloud services and infrastructure, including S3, Lambdas, Dynamo, Event Bridge, ECS, and Kinesis.
  • Coursework or experience with IAM framework and SailPoint Identity Security Cloud.
  • Programming aptitude, logical and abstract thinking, problem-solving ability, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, customer-service-oriented environment.
  • Previous cybersecurity engineering internship or work experience within the past 12 months, ability to manage concurrent assignments, and experience with Agile or Scaled Agile preferred.

Benefits

  • Full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship lasting 12 weeks from May 18 through August 8, 2027.
  • Remote workplace position with possible travel for training, meetings, and conferences; some states and localities are ineligible for regular off-site work.
  • Free, unlimited space-available travel privileges for the intern, with taxes and fees potentially applying to international travel.
  • Required internship equipment, such as a laptop, will be provided.
  • Stipends may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria.
  • Work must follow a consistent schedule during normal business hours, with a maximum of 8 hours per day.
