Responsibilities
- Own high-level mobile system architecture and define scalable, modular, and high-performance application patterns.
- Translate business goals into technical blueprints and make system design and architecture trade-offs.
- Set engineering benchmarks for app startup time, memory footprint, and frame rates.
- Evaluate mobile technologies, frameworks, and tools and lead native add-to-app integrations and legacy migrations.
- Define mobile security baselines including certificate pinning, obfuscation, and anti-tampering logic.
- Write hands-on code for high-complexity systems and core framework libraries.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for severe mobile production issues.
- Optimize performance by diagnosing UI and raster jank, memory leaks, and CPU-heavy operations using Dart Isolates.
- Handle high-frequency real-time data through long-lived connections and serialization formats.
- Standardize CI/CD pipelines, fastlane release automation, and app store submission processes.
- Align technical roadmaps and architectural patterns with Product, Delivery, Operations, and engineering stakeholders.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical roadmaps, and development planning.
- Drive technical culture through architecture reviews, technical write-ups, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of commercial software development experience, including 3+ years dedicated to Flutter and Dart.
- Hands-on experience with native iOS using Swift or Android using Kotlin.
- Proven Founding Engineer experience designing and architecting large-scale, high-load enterprise applications from scratch.
- Strong technical leadership experience taking complex mobile products through the full development lifecycle to production.
- Deep knowledge of Dart internals, including isolates, asynchronous programming, and null safety, plus Flutter’s rendering pipeline.
- Experience with state management using Bloc or Riverpod, unit/widget/integration testing, and Melos monorepos.
- Hands-on experience with real-time data handling, WebSockets, long-lived connections, protobuf or JSON serialization, and mobile security standards.
- Strong system design, architectural decision-making, ownership, accountability, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, technical roadmaps, and personal development planning.
- Verifiable portfolio of complex production-grade applications where the candidate served as Primary Architect or Tech Lead.
- Nice-to-have experience with native add-to-app Flutter integration, incremental migrations, CMS-driven or server-driven UI, dynamic localization, feature toggles, deep linking, and multi-jurisdictional deployment.
- Nice-to-have experience profiling mobile performance with DevTools and the Impeller engine, and familiarity with App Store and Google Play review requirements for gambling applications.
