Base Salary
$125k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and operate multi-tenant cloud infrastructure for customer applications, including isolation, deployment, observability, and cost controls.
- Design and operate scalable, low-latency runtime infrastructure for serving user applications.
- Maintain platform uptime and reliability while ensuring failures are isolated and do not cascade across customers.
- Build platform features and primitives for real-time data transfer, background execution, and scalable APIs.
- Own major platform components end to end from architecture and implementation through production operation and iteration.
- Research and make decisions about technology choices and service providers.
- Use platform telemetry, execution data, and feedback loops to improve code generation and application performance.
- Collaborate with product teams to build platform capabilities that support the product roadmap.
- Stay current with infrastructure research and development.
Requirements
- A strong technical foundation from a top computer science program or equivalent hands-on experience building scalable systems.
- Experience building or operating distributed systems in production, including cloud infrastructure, backend services, or platforms.
- Experience designing scalable systems that support many users.
- Solid programming fundamentals and some experience with TypeScript.
- Evidence of ambitious, self-driven projects or work requiring problem solving and ownership.
- Exceptional ability to read deeply, reason clearly, and communicate complex ideas.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments while balancing care with urgency.
- Prior platform, infrastructure, or backend experience is desirable.
- Experience building early-stage systems at a scaleup is desirable.
- Previous experience as a system administrator is desirable.
- Personal projects demonstrating initiative, creativity, and independent thinking are desirable.
- Technical and non-technical interests or background, such as writing, design, philosophy, or economics, are desirable.
