Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Deliver robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
- Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Identify improvement opportunities, perform targeted refactoring, reduce technical debt, and improve system performance.
- Influence long-term technology strategy by evaluating emerging tools and practices.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical communities and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative field such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred: master's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Preferred: 7+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala.
- Preferred: experience with databases, cloud platforms, open source frameworks, front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, synchronous and asynchronous APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, Git-based version control, and cloud troubleshooting.
- Preferred: experience with AI-based coding tools, interactive AI tooling, observability, mentoring engineers, cross-functional engineering initiatives, coding standards, and design patterns.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: $179,400-$204,700 in Richmond, VA; $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, VA; and $215,200-$245,600 in New York, NY.
- The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including potential cash bonuses and long-term incentives.
