Responsibilities
- Build and own Bettermode products from scrappy prototypes through beta and production.
- Develop across the stack using TypeScript, React, and NestJS.
- Integrate LLMs into real customer-facing workflows and design for trustworthy nondeterministic outputs.
- Make architectural and product tradeoffs appropriate for prototypes versus production-grade systems.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor mid-level engineers, and raise the team’s engineering standards.
- Translate evolving business goals into shipped products with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in the TypeScript ecosystem and modern tooling.
- Ability to write clean, modular, scalable, testable, and maintainable code.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to identify the underlying customer problem.
- Experience making ownership-level decisions in an autonomous startup environment.
- Practical experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or a custom AI-assisted development setup on non-trivial problems.
- Prior Staff-level or equivalent software-company experience is a bonus.
- Experience leading a new product from zero to launch is a bonus.
- Strong product instincts and examples of reshaping or abandoning work based on customer learning are a bonus.
- Experience with multi-tenant systems and their architectural constraints is a bonus.
