Responsibilities
- Architect and develop frontend solutions for Kick’s video player supporting high-performance VOD and live streaming.
- Implement player advertising integrations with third-party ad-tech vendors while optimizing monetization and user engagement.
- Build creator interfaces for stream and audience engagement management.
- Optimize playback for low latency, quality, unique features, and stability under load.
- Coordinate frontend solutions across Android, iOS, Roku, and shared backend APIs.
- Own feature delivery from requirements gathering through deployment in a you-build-it-you-run-it model.
- Triage, investigate, and independently resolve production issues with operations teams and creators.
- Use metrics and quantifiable data to guide architecture, optimization, and release-readiness decisions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to communicate technical concepts.
- Improve team performance and efficiency through constructive technical and process changes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of frontend web development experience with React and TypeScript.
- Proven expertise in video players and advertising technology in streaming environments.
- Direct experience implementing VOD and live streaming, including ad insertion and stream stability.
- Proficiency with TypeScript, React, Next.js, GraphQL, and Tailwind CSS.
- Experience with Figma and pixel-perfect frontend implementation.
- A track record of building design systems or complex user interfaces spanning multiple platforms.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, architectural ownership, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with component-driven development such as Radix UI and visual regression testing.
- Understanding of render lifecycle, reconciliation, memoization, concurrent rendering, and scheduling concepts.
- Go experience on the backend is a plus.
- Experience building or optimizing video experiences for Android, iOS, or HTML-based CTV platforms such as Roku.
- Experience with Turborepo or monorepo workflows, isolated component development, and visual regression workflows.
- Experience debugging production applications at scale and leading feature development end to end with measurable product impact.
