Responsibilities
- Design and maintain production ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, health informatics applications, and data processing and transformation pipelines.
- Develop reliable datasets from genomics, clinical, and imaging data for scientific discovery and informatics analyses.
- Own architecture quality, operability, availability, performance, reliability, documentation, and continuous improvement of systems.
- Build data quality frameworks and implement secure coding, privacy, compliance, validation, testing, and troubleshooting processes.
- Gather requirements, present plans, report progress and results, and collaborate with research, clinical, faculty, and staff stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and mentor less experienced programmers through design reviews, pair programming, coaching, and support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent experience, is required.
- At least 5 years of development experience is required.
- Deep hands-on AWS experience with Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Lake Formation, and Athena.
- Advanced Python, data modeling, SQL, asynchronous processing, data orchestration, backend development, API design, and database development experience.
- Expertise in software development practices including version control, code review, testing, documentation, and technical troubleshooting.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or PhD, 4 years of full-stack development, cloud and containerization experience, healthcare or research experience, regulated-environment experience, and experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives.
