Responsibilities
- Expand and strengthen Holepunch’s core P2P networking and storage primitives.
- Implement high-performance networking code in JavaScript and Node.js.
- Optimize network protocols and networked systems for performance and low latency.
- Implement custom binary protocols and serialization formats.
- Apply cryptographic primitives to secure P2P communication.
- Build reliable systems that operate across unreliable networks.
- Bridge JavaScript and C using Node.js native addons and asynchronous I/O.
- Profile and optimize the performance of distributed and networked systems.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of P2P protocols including Kademlia, BitTorrent, libp2p, and hypercore.
- Demonstrable experience optimizing network protocols for performance.
- Advanced JavaScript skills for high-performance networking code.
- Deep understanding of UDP, TCP/IP networking, and NAT traversal techniques.
- Experience implementing custom binary protocols and serialization formats.
- Familiarity with cryptographic primitives for secure P2P communication.
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization of networked systems.
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience building production P2P or distributed systems.
- Preferred: experience optimizing JavaScript for low-latency networking applications.
- Preferred: knowledge of V8 internals and JavaScript performance characteristics.
- Preferred: experience with libuv and asynchronous I/O in C.
- Preferred: contributions to open-source P2P projects or networking libraries.
- Preferred: experience building reliable systems on unreliable networks.
- Preferred: experience with Node.js native addons and bridging between JavaScript and C.
