Responsibilities
- Develop ML-based optimization strategies for simulated systems and physical hardware, including statistical analysis of output uncertainties.
- Optimize internal simulation software through GPU programming, profiling, code optimization, and high-performance computing platforms.
- Design and build high-performance simulators for complex physical systems modeled by differential equations.
- Develop and rigorously test ML algorithms and toolkits that improve R&D efficiency.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and scientists on ML-driven research solutions.
- Establish and maintain reproducible data-analysis and modeling workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of industry experience in ML/AI, physical sciences, physical design and optimization, simulation software, data science, statistics, control systems, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Python and its numerical and scientific ecosystem, including NumPy, pandas, xarray, PyTorch, JAX, CUDA, SciPy, scikit-learn, and Ray.
- Hands-on experience with ML-based optimization and optimization of numerical or simulation software.
- Experience designing and writing simulators for complex physical systems and control systems.
- Experience with GPU programming, such as CUDA.
- Experience with software development lifecycles, version control, code review, testing, CI/CD, logging, profiling, debugging, and documentation.
- Comfort working with Linux shell, Docker, Git, and GitHub.
- Good knowledge of physics, linear algebra, and statistics, plus strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred qualifications include an MSc or PhD, representation learning, reinforcement learning, generative modeling, quantum computing familiarity, statistical inference, GPU programming, or ML and signal analysis on ultrafast embedded systems.
Benefits
- Base salary range of 140,000–190,000 CAD, with eligibility for equity and benefits.
- The role is a new position, with base salary determined by location, experience, and internal benchmarks.
