Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance monitoring and observability solutions for Production Support.
  • Identify repetitive manual Production Support activities and deliver scalable automation for incident response, health checks, ticket enrichment, reporting, and operational recovery.
  • Develop core application components in Java and deliver enhancements and maintenance for applications in the assigned business domain.
  • Create unit, integration, and system testing procedures and support integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Provide second-level production support by diagnosing complex incidents, coordinating resolution, and implementing preventive improvements.
  • Analyze Production Support workflows, prioritize initiatives based on business impact and operational risk, and improve monitoring coverage and support processes.
  • Support vendor software and collaborate with Production Support, application development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Communicate priorities, delivery progress, production risks, and resolution plans to stakeholders.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools while following security, data-handling, and code-review standards.
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across geographically distributed teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 4 years of software development experience, including production-grade application delivery and increasing responsibility for technical design, operational support, or engineering leadership.
  • Strong proficiency with Java, SQL, and Git, plus data standards, data modeling, XML, and JSON.
  • Proficiency with MQ or Kafka messaging frameworks and Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Integration.
  • Experience with automated unit, integration, and system testing; DevOps practices; build, deployment, release validation; and production support.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications on cloud or container platforms, including orchestration, configuration, resilience, and operational monitoring.
  • Comfort working in Windows and Linux environments and independently designing and implementing systems and features.
  • Hands-on experience with Splunk, AppDynamics, and Moogsoft for dashboards, alerts, log analysis, and service-health reporting.
  • Strong Java and scripting skills using Python or Shell, with experience integrating REST APIs and working with JSON and XML.
  • Experience with Linux, SQL, IBM MQ or Kafka, containerization, and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and Maven.
  • Understanding of incident management, root-cause analysis, runbooks, operational controls, change validation, service-level objectives, auditability, and human approval requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Understanding of secure development, change management, data protection, auditability, segregation of duties, and financial-services regulatory controls.
  • Preferred qualifications include securities or financial-services experience, site reliability engineering practices, cloud-native platforms, microservices, infrastructure automation, resilient application design, AI-assisted operations, measurable automation outcomes, and mentoring experience.
