Responsibilities
- Develop, train, evaluate, and maintain deep learning models for computer vision tasks including object detection and image classification.
- Build and maintain training and inference pipelines, primarily using Azure Machine Learning.
- Create data pipelines for large image datasets, including multispectral and other multi-channel imagery.
- Explore datasets, identify data quality and labeling issues, and define annotation, preprocessing, feature engineering, and augmentation strategies.
- Deploy and optimize models for real-time or high-throughput production systems, including industrial machines and constrained hardware.
- Debug production model, data, and pipeline issues and conduct model error analysis to improve system performance.
- Define validation strategies, evaluation metrics, and test datasets for machine learning systems.
- Prototype new architectures and algorithms before integrating them into production.
- Improve shared ML platforms and tooling, including internal SDKs, data schemas, training pipelines, and deployment tooling.
- Review code and contribute to testing, documentation, code quality, and collaboration across machine learning and software engineering teams.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Several years of professional experience building machine learning systems with a strong focus on computer vision and deep learning.
- Strong Python programming skills and hands-on experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
- Strong understanding of object detection and image classification, including architectures, loss functions, augmentation, training methods, and evaluation metrics.
- Experience with computer vision tooling such as OpenCV, YOLO-based architectures, or MMDetection.
- Experience building and debugging machine learning pipelines and models in production.
- Experience with Azure Machine Learning, AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, or another cloud ML platform; Azure is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Docker, automated testing, versioning, monitoring, and production machine learning engineering practices.
- Experience optimizing models for real-time or high-throughput inference, ideally on edge devices or production hardware.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills.
- Preferred experience includes MLOps platforms, multispectral or hyperspectral imagery, edge and embedded hardware, GPUs, model quantization or pruning, large-scale annotation workflows, scalable ML systems, mentoring, technical leadership, publications, or relevant domain experience.
