Base Salary
$130k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize embedded video encoding and streaming pipelines for Verkada camera and security devices.
- Implement and tune hardware-accelerated H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 codecs for performance, quality, and power efficiency.
- Build and extend GStreamer, FFmpeg, and other multimedia pipelines for real-time video capture, processing, and delivery.
- Integrate and optimize RTSP, RTP, RTMP, HLS, DASH, and WebRTC streaming protocols.
- Profile and optimize startup time, latency, rebuffering, and overall video quality-of-experience metrics.
- Debug encoding pipelines, transport layers, and CPU, GPU, and ISP utilization issues.
- Collaborate with firmware, backend, and native client teams to improve streaming capture and firmware components.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a similar degree.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing embedded systems, focused on video streaming applications.
- Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience with video codecs and hardware-accelerated encoding and decoding pipelines is preferred.
- Familiarity with GStreamer, FFmpeg, or custom video pipelines is preferred.
- Understanding of RTSP, RTP, RTMP, HLS, DASH, WebRTC, and adaptive bitrate streaming is preferred.
- Experience optimizing low latency and startup time under constrained resources is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite five days per week.
