Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services and full-stack applications for financial event processing, billing, pricing, taxation, settlements, reconciliation, inventory costing, and ledger workflows.
- Build idempotent, replayable, ordered, and auditable event-driven systems that trace transactions from operational events through accounting.
- Translate accounting, finance operations, and commercial workflows into scalable software with domain stakeholders.
- Integrate operational systems with ERP, payment providers, tax engines, banking systems, manufacturing systems, and partner platforms.
- Automate reconciliation and manual accounting workflows to reduce settlement errors and improve financial accuracy.
- Own APIs, data models, service boundaries, observability, service-health metrics, and runbooks for correctness-critical production services.
- Drive technical design, review code and designs, mentor engineers, and lead projects through production.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production backend systems and owning reliable services at scale.
- Strong distributed-systems design skills, including data modeling, API design, and architectural tradeoffs.
- Experience with consistency, idempotency, transactional integrity, event ordering, failure recovery, and financial correctness.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate complex workflows into practical software solutions.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and improve reliability through observability, incident reviews, and automation.
- Regular on-site presence in South San Francisco is required.
- Experience with billing, payments, ERP integrations, reconciliation, accounting systems, ledgers, or marketplace settlements is strongly preferred but not required.
