Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the technical architecture, target-state designs, technical standards, and architectural decision records for the product area.
- Design and deliver production agentic AI capabilities, including tool and function calling, orchestration, multi-agent patterns, retrieval-augmented generation, memory and context management, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Champion and embed an AI-Driven Development Lifecycle across requirements, design, implementation, testing, code review, documentation, and operational support.
- Define quality bars, review gates, guardrails, policies, and standards for safe, secure, compliant, and effective AI-assisted engineering.
- Contribute directly to the codebase, prototype high-risk approaches, and provide technical guidance in .NET/C# or Node.js environments.
- Own AI feature evaluation, testing, observability, latency, cost management, model selection and versioning, graceful degradation, and AI-specific risk controls.
- Extend and tailor AI tooling through project context files, custom commands, subagents, hooks, and MCP server integrations.
- Partner with Product Management and engineering leadership to translate requirements into technical designs and delivery outcomes.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, coaching, and enablement in AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, technical communication, and continuous improvement.
- Identify technical blockers and debt, make explicit architecture and delivery trade-offs, and improve reliability and delivery speed.
- Act as the primary technical voice for the product area with internal stakeholders and customers where required.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years in an architecture, lead engineer, or principal engineer capacity.
- Strong hands-on development experience in .NET/C# or Node.js.
- Experience architecting and delivering SaaS or enterprise software products at scale.
- Strong experience with Azure or AWS, distributed systems, and API design.
- Ability to translate product requirements into technical designs and execution plans.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without direct authority.
- Hands-on production experience with Claude Code or equivalent agentic coding tools, used routinely rather than experimentally.
- Practical experience with an AI-Driven Development Lifecycle across design, implementation, testing, review, and documentation.
- Working understanding of agentic AI patterns, including tool/function calling, orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Knowledge of the current LLM landscape and judgment in selecting models and approaches based on problem, cost, and latency.
- Experience defining evaluation, testing, and observability strategies for non-deterministic AI systems.
- Understanding of prompt injection, data leakage, access control on agent tooling, responsible AI, and related governance concerns.
- Technical proficiency with Databricks, SQL Server, and Azure SQL is highly desirable.
- Experience shipping agentic AI solutions into production, integrating Model Context Protocol or comparable standards, and introducing AI tooling across an engineering organization is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with technical and non-technical stakeholders in global or cross-functional organizations are desirable.
