Base Salary

$148k - $240k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement autonomous machine systems from requirements through production.
  • Lead autonomy engineers and collaborate with software, hardware, platform, and global engineering teams.
  • Evaluate and select technology solutions, estimate project time and cost, and support prioritization.
  • Perform risk and benefit analysis and execute phased delivery plans from simulation through proof of concept and production release.
  • Decompose customer requirements into technical requirements and document system designs, tradeoffs, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Triage and resolve system-level issues in development, validation, and production.
  • Communicate project goals, progress, recommendations, and design decisions to stakeholders and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering or computer science curriculum.
  • Proven ability to work on production products through design, implementation, customer rollout, and support.
  • Experience with robotics or autonomous projects is required.
  • Knowledge of autonomous systems, preferably Caterpillar Command systems such as Command for Hauling or Command for Dozing.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Caterpillar Command ecosystem or centralized control system architectures.
  • Preferred experience with Caterpillar technology products, mining, construction or agricultural machines, product lifecycle management, and multi-generational technology products.
  • Preferred experience with data analysis, issue investigation, safety frameworks such as functional safety or SOTIF, simulation tools, SiL and HiL test methods, C++, Python, and Linux development.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts, influence decisions with evidence, and build consensus among technical and business stakeholders.
