Responsibilities
- Own architectural direction for core platform domains and shape platform investment decisions.
- Develop, ratify, and socialize architectural standards through the Architecture Review Board.
- Build reference architectures and reusable patterns for engineering teams.
- Identify architectural debt, structural risks, and platform gaps and drive investments to address them.
- Maintain a technology radar covering platform-domain adoption and investment signals.
- Serve as an embedded architectural partner on high-profile engineering initiatives.
- Translate platform gaps discovered through project work into platform capability proposals.
- Mentor architects and senior engineers through design reviews, architecture guilds, and documentation.
- Influence engineering leaders and value stream teams toward platform-wide technical coherence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 13+ years of software and platform engineering experience, including at least 8 years in senior individual contributor or software and platform architecture roles.
- Significant principal-level or senior individual contributor experience with cross-system architectural scope.
- Ability to prototype, perform rigorous code and architecture reviews, and maintain technical depth.
- Demonstrated success setting architectural direction for complex cloud-native platforms while reducing technical debt.
- Deep expertise in at least two areas including cloud infrastructure architecture, CI/CD and delivery platforms, developer experience tooling, security and compliance architecture, or API and service design patterns.
- Breadth across infrastructure, deployment, application architecture, integration patterns, and developer experience.
- Experience influencing technical direction without organizational authority and developing standards in an architecture governance context.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing clear, usable architectural documentation.
- Recognition in the software engineering community through open source, publications, conferences, or platform engineering and developer experience participation.
- Healthcare technology or regulated-data experience is valued.
- Familiarity with Internal Developer Platform design patterns and self-service developer workflow automation is valued.
- Experience with AI/ML infrastructure patterns, federated engineering organizations, and distributed architectural influence is valued.
- Graduate education or recognized technical contributions such as patents, publications, open-source projects, or conference presentations are valued.
