Responsibilities
- Design and build durable engineering systems that reduce complexity and increase developer velocity.
- Solve high-impact problems involving low latency, correctness, performance, reliability, and global scale.
- Identify architectural opportunities and risks and work with leadership to address them.
- Lead organization-wide development and adoption of key engineering frameworks and coding practices.
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into production-ready technical roadmaps with Product, Science, and Operations.
- Oversee incident management processes and direct global on-call rotations.
- Mentor and guide engineers while raising engineering quality standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical role.
- Expertise writing high-quality code for strategically important, cross-organizational problems.
- Experience leading organization-wide engineering projects through inception, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and operations.
- Experience overseeing incident management and directing on-call rotations.
- Ability to make sound engineering and business tradeoffs with long-term organizational implications.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience building high-performance distributed systems for 100M+ users.
- Preferred expertise with Flink, Spark, Apache Pinot, Druid, Big Data/Hadoop ecosystem tools, SQL, and data warehousing.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, including representing an organization to technical communities and gaining alignment for large-scale technology transformations.

- Base salary range of USD $202,000–$224,000 per year for San Francisco, CA-based roles.
