Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve automated tests, reusable components, utilities, and execution assets.
- Support automated test execution through Git, GitLab CI/CD, or equivalent delivery pipelines.
- Create and execute API, integration, regression, end-to-end, and release verification tests for ASX Trade and related market platforms.
- Apply programming, scripting, and automation design practices to create maintainable and documented test assets.
- Review requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical designs for testability, coverage, automation opportunities, and quality risks.
- Validate order flow, market data, interface behavior, and integration outcomes across FIX, ITCH, OUCH, APIs, messages, and data feeds.
- Prepare test data, validate environment dependencies, and support execution readiness across Linux/Unix and integrated test environments.
- Investigate automation failures, defects, environment issues, and data discrepancies using logs, pipeline output, database queries, messages, and technical evidence.
- Document test results, prepare release evidence, and support production-readiness sign-off activities.
- Log, investigate, and report defects with evidence, impact, severity, reproducibility details, and technical analysis.
- Contribute to testing standards, automation patterns, reusable components, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Use employer-approved AI tools responsibly to improve productivity, technical analysis, and test engineering outcomes.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in test automation, quality engineering, or technical testing within medium to large technology environments.
- Hands-on Java automation experience developing and maintaining automated tests, reusable components, and framework assets.
- Working knowledge of Python and the ability to support or extend Python-based automation assets.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, clean coding practices, and maintainable automation design.
- Hands-on API, integration, and backend testing experience using Postman, SoapUI, REST libraries, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with Cucumber, Gherkin, or behavior-driven test automation approaches.
- Experience using CI/CD pipelines and investigating failed automated test executions with Git, GitLab CI/CD, or equivalent tooling.
- Good SQL capability for backend validation, reconciliation, and analysis of test results or datasets.
- Good Linux/Unix command-line capability and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence for test management, defect management, traceability, and technical documentation.
- Ability to analyze business and technical requirements and identify test conditions, automation candidates, data needs, and quality risks.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical issues to engineering and business stakeholders.
- Experience in financial markets, exchanges, electronic trading, or market infrastructure is desirable.
- Knowledge of FIX, ITCH, OUCH, or related market protocols is desirable.
- Experience with Selenium, Playwright, containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native test execution, JMeter, Gatling, observability tools, service virtualization, API mocking, or test-data automation is desirable.
- Experience using AI responsibly in test engineering or automation productivity is desirable.
