Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing across API, web, mobile, and integration layers.
- Lead quality engineering for priority initiatives through risk assessment, test strategy, automation, and release-readiness activities.
- Embed automated testing, quality gates, and feedback into CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve automation coverage, reliability, maintainability, and diagnostics across critical customer journeys.
- Partner with software engineers to identify quality and coverage gaps and develop practical solutions.
- Explore AI-assisted and agentic approaches for test design, automation, analysis, and engineering productivity.
- Create reusable testing frameworks, patterns, and tooling that reduce reliance on manual testing.
- Coach and pair with engineers to strengthen engineering ownership of quality.
- Communicate quality risks, technical trade-offs, and delivery readiness to engineering and product stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong experience in quality engineering, software engineering, or a closely related engineering role.
- Strong hands-on coding and test automation experience, including API, service, and web automation.
- Experience embedding automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and using quality gates and feedback to improve release confidence.
- Strong understanding of risk-based testing, testability, and maintainable automation practices.
- Ability to work independently across multiple engineering teams, navigate ambiguity, and exercise sound judgment as a senior engineer.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with mobile automation, automation frameworks at scale, observability, or production diagnostics is valuable.
- Practical experience with generative AI, coding assistants, or agentic software-engineering workflows is welcomed.
- Fintech or highly regulated-environment experience is useful but not essential.
- Ability to identify and manage risks and alignment with Zip’s stated company values.
