Principal Software Engineer (Agentic Integration)

Responsibilities
- Own the overall solution architecture for agentic workflows, MCP surfaces, and multi-agent orchestration across IDE, CI/CD, and pull request workflows.
- Identify, prototype, pitch, and build new ways to bring Black Duck capabilities into agentic developer and CI workflows.
- Design and implement agentic workflows and integrations spanning agents, skills, MCP tooling, and APIs with governance, permissions, and auditability.
- Own the technical direction and ongoing development of the Black Duck MCP Gateway.
- Evolve SAST AI Fix Recommendation to improve remediation guidance and automated fix generation.
- Mentor engineers on agentic system design and modern integration patterns.
- Partner with Product and Applied AI teams on the broader agentic strategy.
Requirements
- 8+ years of broad software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience applying LLMs to production workflows, including prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, API-based model integration, or agent evaluation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems with multi-agent orchestration, tool use, and task decomposition using technologies such as LangChain, PydanticAI, or LangGraph.
- Experience building or integrating Model Context Protocol servers or comparable plugin and tool architectures for AI assistants, IDEs, and CI/CD workflows.
- Strong API and systems design experience shipping integrations, SDKs, reusable connectors, or canonical models consumed across systems and by external developers.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git workflows, and modern developer tooling.
- Experience with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, distributed systems, and source-control platforms including GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, or Azure.
- Demonstrated initiative and ownership of technical projects from opportunity identification and solution proposal through production delivery.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to work with Product, Applied AI, and platform engineering teams.
- Preferred experience in application security, including SAST, SCA, DAST, ASPM, or DevSecOps tooling.
- Preferred experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
- Preferred depth in LLM integration, vector databases, retrieval pipelines, function calling, tool use, and structured output parsing.
- Preferred experience publishing developer-facing packages through npm or PyPI.
- Preferred background contributing to open-source developer tooling or SDKs.
