Base Salary
$150k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Establish software requirements in collaboration with multiple engineering teams.
- Serve as the technical lead for a satellite program.
- Lead, mentor, and assign tasks to junior software engineers.
- Design, develop, and maintain simple, reliable, fault-tolerant flight software.
- Develop software for satellite payloads including imagers, image processors, communication devices, and astronomical science instruments.
- Create unit and regression tests using existing frameworks.
- Integrate and test software in simulation, flight replica, flight vehicle, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Communicate with customers in technical working groups.
- Travel approximately 10% to customer or vendor sites for design reviews and collaborative technical work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
- 8+ years of experience developing C++ applications for embedded, high-performance, or critical systems for Staff Engineer Level IV.
- 12+ years of experience developing C++ applications for embedded, high-performance, or critical systems for Principal Engineer Level V.
- Experience using GitHub or a similar Git tool.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
- Hands-on Linux kernel development experience, especially with low-level driver subsystems, is a differentiator.
- Experience with UART or serial communication drivers, kernel-space debugging, hardware abstraction layers, and evolving hardware or firmware platforms is a differentiator.
- Experience with ARM and Texas Instruments embedded platforms is a differentiator.
- Experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers is a differentiator.
- Experience with Linux, GNU tools, make, GCC, GDB, Bash, and Python is a differentiator.
- Familiarity with build pipelines, on-target deployment and testing, and serial communications protocols is a differentiator.
- Familiarity with CAN, RS-422/485, I2C, SPI, PCI, and SpaceWire is a differentiator.
