Base Salary

$125k - $175k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Create highly reliable software systems controlling hundreds of satellites in low Earth orbit
  • Improve satellite constellation performance, security, and availability through software design
  • Own software from requirements discovery and prototyping through development, testing, on-orbit rollout, and operational support
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to build satellite capabilities involving sensors, inter-satellite lasers, and space-based cloud computing
  • Write Linux-based C++ software for common processors and microcontrollers
  • Implement networking technologies across satellites, ground operations centers, and users
  • Build automated ground software integrating data processing with satellite command and control
  • Develop models and simulations for flight-like software testing, network performance analysis, and research and development
  • Create tools for testing across virtualized hardware, hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle-in-the-loop environments
  • Develop systems supporting reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis in continuous integration and release workflows

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
  • Development experience in C, C++, Python, or full-stack software development
  • Experience deploying software used in real-world applications and projects is preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks is preferred
  • Strong debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing skills are preferred
  • Experience with networking protocols such as TCP and UDP may be required for some teams
  • Linux kernel development experience may be required for some teams
  • High-performance C++ experience may be required for some teams
  • Image data processing and machine learning experience may be required for some teams
  • Strong mathematics and physics background may be required for some teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance
  • Must satisfy SpaceX ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, take initiative, communicate effectively, and adapt to changing requirements
