Responsibilities

  • Design and implement motion-planning algorithms that generate safe and efficient vehicle trajectories under diverse driving conditions.
  • Optimize planned trajectories for safety, comfort, and efficiency while balancing competing constraints in real time.
  • Validate motion-planning behavior in simulation and real-world test data, identifying and resolving edge cases.
  • Collaborate with perception and software-integration teams to ensure reliable integration into the overall driving stack.
  • Ensure motion-planning algorithms meet defined performance benchmarks and safety requirements for autonomous operation.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in computer science, robotics, engineering, applied mathematics, or a comparable field, or equivalent vocational training/apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in motion planning, robotics, or autonomous-vehicle software.
  • Proven experience developing motion-planning or trajectory-generation algorithms for robotics or autonomous vehicles.
  • Solid background in optimization techniques such as model predictive control and sampling-based planners.
  • Strong C++ and/or Python skills, with experience using motion-planning frameworks or libraries such as OMPL and MoveIt.
  • Experience with optimization solvers such as CasADi, OSQP, or IPOPT for trajectory optimization or model predictive control.
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2, simulation environments such as CARLA or Gazebo, control theory, state estimation, Kalman filters, linear algebra, and numerical optimization.
  • Experience validating algorithms through simulation and real-world test data, including edge-case analysis.
  • Comfort working with Git, CI-CD, and real-time or embedded-system constraints.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with perception and software-integration teams and understanding functional-safety requirements for autonomous systems.
  • Analytical and structured problem-solving approach, safety-conscious mindset, and ability to communicate algorithmic trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • English proficiency at C1 level is required; German is a plus.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours accommodating personal responsibilities.
  • Corporate Benefits partner discounts across fashion, beauty, travel, and culture.
  • Subsidy for public-transport tickets.
  • Employer-covered costs for further education and training.
  • Attractive Berlin-Wedding location with very good public-transport connections.
