Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning algorithms to manage business risks across ByteDance products and platforms.
- Prototype novel solutions, conduct experiments, validate hypotheses, and provide insights to Product and Tech teams.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve automation processes.
- Build efficient data-querying infrastructure for real-time and offline analysis.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen risk-defense solutions and define risk-control metrics.
- Align teams and stakeholders on numeric risk-control goals.
- Document technical processes and communicate results through writing, visualizations, and presentations.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
- Able to commit to a 12-week internship during Summer 2026.
- Proficiency in machine learning theories and applications including ensemble trees, deep neural networks, transfer and multi-task learning, reinforcement learning, graph theory, and unsupervised learning.
- Experience with Python, SQL/Hive, and Hadoop.
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, problem-solving ability, time management, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Preferred: software engineering experience through internships, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
- Preferred: internship or research experience in e-commerce or risk control.
- Preferred: curiosity toward new technologies and entrepreneurship, creativity, and quick problem-solving ability.
