Base Salary
$190k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and ship backend systems capable of scaling to millions of requests per day.
- Design, implement, and optimize APIs for Blockworks’ research and media products.
- Own database architecture, optimization, and reliability for MySQL and PostgreSQL systems.
- Implement caching and performance strategies using Redis or similar tools.
- Lead backend feature development from planning and scoping through production release.
- Diagnose and resolve scalability, performance, and reliability issues under real-world load.
- Improve testing, monitoring, and observability across the technology stack.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and data teams to deliver seamless integrations and define technical requirements and architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of professional backend engineering experience focused on backend development and architecture with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Experience building reliable API endpoints capable of handling more than 1 million requests per day.
- Strong proficiency in relational database design and optimization using MySQL and PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query optimization.
- Experience with caching mechanisms such as Redis and with automated testing, monitoring, and observability.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, collaboration, attention to detail, and clean, maintainable coding practices.
- Preferred experience with NestJS, TypeORM, legacy PHP migrations, AWS cloud infrastructure, ML/AI models, or the crypto industry.
