Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automated performance testing frameworks for the entire system.
- Integrate performance suites into CI/CD to prevent latency and throughput regressions.
- Define SLIs/SLOs and create dashboards for real-time system health visibility.
- Measure and track VoIP quality metrics and build synthetic call load testing infrastructure.
- Correlate audio degradation signals with infrastructure metrics to identify issues.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to prioritize performance-related work.
- Contribute to incident reviews related to latency or audio quality.
- Write runbooks and share learnings to help other engineers instrument their services.
Requirements
- 10+ years in performance engineering with a solid software development and SRE background.
- Proven experience building automated performance test harnesses using tools like Locust or JMeter.
- Deep hands-on experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning and Redis.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
- Fluency with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Working knowledge of SIP, RTP/RTCP, and VoIP testing tools.
- Ability to diagnose audio degradation across various layers.
- Familiarity with MOS scoring methodologies.
