Base Salary
$203k - $254k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and improve 24x7 database production support operations, incident remediation, alert handling, and operational procedures.
- Architect and maintain reusable database Infrastructure as Code components using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Automate database deployment, sizing, configuration, backups, failover strategies, timeouts, and lifecycle policies.
- Participate in the database on-call rotation, identify operational gaps and vulnerabilities, and eliminate single points of failure.
- Manage large-scale database infrastructure, cluster operations, capacity planning, data governance, compliance reviews, migrations, and major version upgrades.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, compliance checks, incident response processes, load testing, and database performance improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in database operations, site reliability engineering, or related data-platform infrastructure roles.
- Extensive hands-on experience building database Infrastructure as Code and automation.
- Proven experience providing production support for highly available 24x7 database systems at scale.
- Extensive AWS experience and hands-on implementation of CI/CD pipelines and DatabaseOps workflows.
- Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, DevOps Guru, and Database Performance Insights.
- Understanding of low-level system performance metrics, including disk and I/O saturation, and experience resolving operational bottlenecks.
- Experience managing large-scale SQL and NoSQL database systems.
- Ability to document incident-response playbooks and operational requirements, with strong problem-solving, ownership, and communication skills.
