Base Salary
$231k - $323k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and roadmap for Blue Origin’s agentic AI, retrieval, and semantic reasoning platform.
- Write production code, build reference implementations, and validate technically difficult capabilities hands-on across the full stack.
- Design reusable shared capabilities exposed through documented APIs and MCPs.
- Set architecture direction for ingestion, knowledge graphs, enterprise search, natural-language-to-SQL, and multimodal evidence systems.
- Establish reusable patterns and standards for CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and releases.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and steward architecture decision records, standards, and reference implementations.
- Establish AI evaluation and observability practices including regression suites, accuracy thresholds, release gates, tracing, and production metrics.
- Ensure AI outputs are grounded in source evidence with provenance, access control, and confidence, while improving retrieval and generation quality.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building production software and 7+ years of cross-team architecture ownership or technical leadership.
- Production experience delivering LLM, RAG, or agentic AI systems end to end, including ingestion, retrieval, reranking, prompt and context design, and serving.
- Experience building and operating an enterprise data platform or lakehouse/distributed architecture with metadata-driven ingestion, schema evolution, pipeline reliability, and workload-cost management.
- Production Python experience, REST or GraphQL API design experience, and experience with AWS, infrastructure as code using Terraform or CDK, and mature CI/CD.
- Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Preferred experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Neo4j, Neptune, Sinequa, OpenSearch, natural-language-to-SQL, AI observability, inference cost and latency optimization, and multimodal AI.
- A graduate degree or published open-source work in applied AI is preferred.
