Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable Java-based backend applications and Spring Boot microservices.
- Design event-driven, asynchronous, and distributed systems using messaging platforms.
- Implement optimized SQL queries and reliable relational database integrations.
- Containerize and deploy applications while integrating CI/CD pipelines with DevOps teams.
- Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and engineering best-practice initiatives.
- Use AI code companions and intelligent development tools responsibly to improve productivity and code quality.
- Mentor junior developers and promote collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend software development experience using Java 8 or above.
- Full-stack development experience with backend and frontend technologies such as Angular or React.
- Strong proficiency with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful microservices.
- Proficiency in optimized SQL queries and database development.
- Working knowledge of Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms and message-driven systems.
- Understanding of distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Hands-on experience with AI code companions such as GitHub Copilot or JetBrains AI Assistant, including effective prompting and critical validation of outputs.
- Strong English communication skills; German language skills are a plus.
- Familiarity with Java performance tuning and monitoring and backend security best practices is preferred.
