Base Salary
$156k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver complex, cross-system integrations, including partner and alliance integration APIs.
- Identify recurring operational toil and define reusable templates, standards, and automation.
- Investigate root causes across architecture, monitoring, and processes, then drive durable fixes and follow-up actions.
- Mentor team members, including non-engineers who write code and build automations.
- Partner with commercial, product, and engineering stakeholders to scope solutions and make technical trade-offs.
- Clarify ambiguous problems, define technical plans, and surface risks, edge cases, security concerns, and downstream impacts.
- Document technical knowledge in runbooks and participate in the on-call rotation to triage and resolve issues.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience writing readable, tested, and efficient production code.
- Strong Ruby on Rails experience is preferred; exceptional backend engineers in other languages may ramp quickly on Rails.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and with building and consuming APIs and integrations across service boundaries.
- Fluency with AI-assisted development and a thoughtful, quality-conscious approach to AI coding assistants.
- Experience building API-driven automation workflows, such as with Tines, n8n, or similar tools.
- Track record of identifying inefficiencies and shipping solutions with measurable business or operational value.
- Solid debugging and optimization skills and a strong grasp of SDLC processes and frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with non-engineering stakeholders.
- Experience in solutions engineering, implementation, or another customer-facing technical capacity.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading projects.
- Preferred experience with React or Vue and with healthcare or other regulated, data-sensitive domains.
