Base Salary

$110k - $130k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship iOS features by enhancing existing code and creating new functionality.
  • Write clean, maintainable code using Swift and SwiftUI.
  • Mentor other iOS engineers and support their professional growth.
  • Participate in code reviews, write unit tests, and collaborate with QA on automated functional testing.
  • Contribute to application architecture, documentation, technical roadmaps, and timeline estimates.
  • Integrate internal New York Times services and external third-party APIs.
  • Stay current with iOS technologies, best practices, and AI tooling for mobile development.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional native iOS development experience using Swift.
  • Knowledge of iOS design patterns, memory management, and multithreading, including SwiftUI, UIKit, Combine, MVVM/MVI, and CoreData or GRDB.
  • Experience with Git/GitHub and peer code review practices.
  • Experience with mobile app release processes, build tools, and continuous integration.
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and dependency injection.
  • Demonstrated focus on app performance, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Preferred: knowledge of iOS UI concepts and Material Design guidelines.
  • Preferred: experience on a mobile platform team and with distributed, asynchronous collaboration.
