Responsibilities
- Design and build integrations with national customs systems, including ASYCUDA/SYDONIA, and port-community data sources.
- Develop full-stack software solutions, internal tools, verification consoles, reporting interfaces, and integrations with external data sources.
- Gather requirements and scope practical software solutions with customs authorities, port authorities, operations teams, and other stakeholders.
- Implement secure, resilient, and offline-tolerant data exchange between field inspection, headquarters analysis, and government interfaces.
- Establish the architecture, APIs, and standards for KIBO’s digital single-window platform.
- Own code quality, testing, environments, documentation, deployment, and monitoring practices.
- Collaborate with the Senior Data Scientist and multidisciplinary teams to ensure software, data flows, and analytics operate reliably in production.
- Assess customs and port-community data sources, deliver initial integrations and a verification console, and publish the platform architecture during the first few months.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building, shipping, and maintaining full-stack applications.
- Experience with modern JavaScript or TypeScript front-end development, a mainstream backend stack such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET, and relational databases.
- Proven experience integrating external systems, legacy platforms, APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, data feeds, or operational data sources.
- Strong database and data-modeling skills, including schema design, query optimization, data validation, and transactional or operational datasets.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, role-based access control, encryption and data protection, audit logging, and secure handling of sensitive data.
- Experience building production-ready applications with testing, documentation, environment management, version control, deployment, and monitoring.
- Ability to gather requirements from non-technical, operational, and government stakeholders and translate business and data requirements into working software.
- Experience designing for constrained connectivity, including offline-first, resilient, or intermittently connected environments.
- Ability to collaborate with data science, operations, and field teams to support reliable production software, data flows, and analytics.
- Preferred experience with ASYCUDA/SYDONIA or other customs, single-window, trade, logistics, port-community, or government systems.
- Preferred familiarity with digital government, trade facilitation, customs modernization, or port/community system integration.
- Preferred experience with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, containerization, infrastructure-as-code, workflow orchestration, or production monitoring tools.
- Preferred exposure to e-payment, traceability, distributed-ledger, digital identity, or secure transaction platforms.
- Preferred experience building dashboards, internal tools, verification consoles, case-management tools, or audit-friendly reporting interfaces.
- Working French is a plus.
