Responsibilities
- Lead cross-team initiatives and collaborate with internal teams, external partners, clients, and industry groups.
- Gather functional requirements, develop technical specifications, and lead project and test planning.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert, mentor engineers, and lead a small team solving programming and design challenges.
- Spend roughly 60% of the role writing code for scalable web applications and services.
- Make technology and strategic decisions based on industry trends and web technology expertise.
- Solve ambiguous customer problems end to end with accountability.
- Create technical documentation and PowerPoint presentations covering architectural and design options.
- Build internal and external relationships needed to deliver quality software products and services.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related area, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience delivering enterprise-class web applications.
- 5+ years designing and implementing robust, highly scalable services.
- Practical experience with microservices and messaging technologies including GraphQL, Kubernetes, Kafka, and ActiveMQ.
- Experience writing scalable web application code with accessibility, internationalization, and instrumentation considerations.
- Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, web, and mobile design constraints.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms and design patterns.
- 5+ years of JavaScript application design and testing experience.
- 7+ years of experience with mid-tier technologies such as Node and Java.
- Experience with test automation and unit, integration, and functional testing.
- Experience with relational database design and implementation.
- Experience with UI frameworks such as React, Backbone, and Angular.
- Strategic thinking, strategy development, business acumen, and the ability to mentor junior developers.
