Software Engineer - Billing & Manageability

- Build and evolve billing systems supporting usage-based, subscription, and hybrid billing models.
- Design and implement APIs, data pipelines, and event-driven workflows integrating billing with payments, tax, ERP, CRM, and data warehouse systems.
- Instrument services, develop metrics, and define SLIs/SLOs to improve platform reliability.
- Implement customer-facing product telemetry features for B2 Object Storage to improve usage and cost visibility.
- Participate in technical design discussions and write clear design documents.
- Write high-quality, well-tested server-side code in a distributed systems environment.
Requirements
- 4+ years of server-side Java programming experience.
- Experience designing, implementing, testing, and rolling out software for distributed systems.
- Ability to communicate proactively in a remote environment, surface blockers early, and move work forward.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
- Experience with third-party billing platforms such as Orb, Chargebee, Metronome, or Stripe Billing is preferred.
- Experience with usage-based or metered billing models is preferred.
- API design and integration experience is preferred.
- Agile and Scrum experience is preferred.
