Responsibilities
- Build and operate production backend services at scale using Java and JVM frameworks.
- Design RESTful APIs and contribute to event-driven distributed-system architecture.
- Own backend systems end to end, including data modeling, event flows, deployment, and production operations.
- Work with Kafka, SQS, SNS, pub/sub, asynchronous processing, idempotency, and Domain-Driven Design patterns.
- Design and optimize relational, NoSQL, caching, and data-warehouse solutions, including schemas, queries, and migrations.
- Deploy services on AWS and Azure using Kubernetes and manage infrastructure through Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps practices.
- Implement observability with metrics, logs, APM, and distributed tracing, and conduct performance and load testing.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and agents for code generation, refactoring, debugging, pull requests, reviews, and prompt evaluation.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders; mentor peers and promote backend engineering excellence.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale.
- Strong proficiency in Java and frameworks such as Quarkus and Spring Boot.
- Deep experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, SQS, and SNS, plus Domain-Driven Design patterns for distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Aurora RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and production deployment on AWS or Azure using Kubernetes and EKS.
- Strong experience with Datadog, RESTful API design, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform or CloudFormation, and automated performance/load testing frameworks.
- Experience with collaborative Agile software development practices and cross-functional partnership.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools or agents such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Experience with gRPC, GraphQL, or AsyncAPI is a plus.
- Experience with K6, Gatling, or JMeter is relevant for performance and load testing.
