Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production Rust applications, backend services, APIs, and system-level components.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries and work with relational databases at scale.
- Debug production Rust applications, including memory safety issues, concurrency bugs, panics, deadlocks, and performance regressions.
- Contribute to frontend development using React and micro frontend architectures.
- Design and implement microservice and distributed system architectures.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, end-to-end, property-based, and fuzz tests where appropriate.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain services in containerized Kubernetes environments.
- Implement observability, logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting for mission-critical systems.
- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs with engineers, product managers, and leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers through code review, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
- Use agentic coding tools responsibly while maintaining code quality and security standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience creating and managing Rust applications in production.
- Strong command of Rust ownership, lifetimes, traits, and error-handling patterns.
- Experience with asynchronous Rust runtimes such as Tokio or async-std.
- Proficiency with Rust web frameworks and libraries such as Actix, Axum, or Warp.
- Strong production systems and backend engineering experience building APIs, background workers, data pipelines, or other scalable backend services.
- Strong SQL experience, including complex joins, window functions, indexing strategies, and query-plan analysis.
- Production experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, with property-based or fuzz testing preferred.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and testing within production deployment workflows.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments, including deploying, scaling, and troubleshooting services.
- Experience with structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Ability to communicate effectively and mentor junior engineers on Rust and systems engineering.
