Responsibilities
- Conduct blockchain analysis and cryptocurrency tracing across Bitcoin, EVM chains, privacy coins, DeFi platforms, and cross-chain ecosystems.
- Develop algorithms, methods, and analytical workflows supporting seizure warrants, forensic audits, and financial-crime investigations.
- Analyze smart contracts, Solidity bytecode, token behavior, mixing and tumbling activity, anonymity-enhancing technologies, and illicit-finance patterns.
- Conduct cyber-enabled financial investigations, target development, cyber-forensic acquisition, digital-evidence analysis, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Research cybercrime methods, money-laundering typologies, obfuscation techniques, emerging blockchain and payment technologies, and cyber-enabled financial threats.
- Produce investigative reports, analytic products, visualizations, and finished intelligence for major federal investigations.
- Collaborate with cyber, forensic, financial-crime, threat-finance, and intelligence teams.
- Develop and deliver formal training for government and cross-agency partners.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in blockchain engineering, cryptocurrency forensics, digital-asset security, cyber-enabled financial investigations, or related areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related field.
- Hands-on cryptocurrency analysis experience supporting federal investigations and prosecutions.
- Experience with a blockchain analysis platform such as Chainalysis Reactor, TRM Labs, or CipherTrace.
- Proficiency with smart contracts, Solidity, EVM internals, and/or blockchain APIs.
- Ability to conduct open-source research using domestic and international databases, corporate filings, and investigative datasets.
- Strong understanding of illicit-finance typologies, obfuscation and anonymization methods, and laundering mechanisms.
- Ability to produce formal investigative products with clear written and verbal communication.
- Must meet TS/SCI clearance eligibility requirements and obtain SCI following DHS EOD approval.
- Preferred qualifications include a related master’s degree, blockchain or cryptocurrency certifications, GIAC cybersecurity certifications, cryptocurrency transaction-tracing experience, finished-intelligence experience, financial-services experience, process-improvement experience, and active DHS EOD suitability.
